National Maritime Day

  • 20 May 2011
  • 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM
  • Half Moon Cruise and Celebration Center

The last few years have been extremely challenging for everyone in the maritime industry. 2010 saw a modest comeback in volume and profitability in the maritime industry. As we look to a brighter future in 2011, it is only fitting that we pause to honor the great sacrifices being made by the men and women serving our country in the Merchant Marine. With a war effort still underway in Afghanistan and our armed forces and US AID programs spread across the globe, the role of the Merchant Marine has never been more critical to our national security, diplomatic efforts and spreading the good will of the American people throughout the world.

Please join us in our annual commemoration of National Maritime Day on Friday, May 20th. Our commemoration this year will again consist of a luncheon held at the Half Moone Cruise & Celebration Center and an updated video tribute.  Our theme this year in recognizing the Merchant Marine is "It's more than a job, every voyage has its purpose."

Our guest speaker will be Rear Admiral Mark H. Buzby, Commander - Military Sealift Command, U.S> Navy.

In addition to your participation, we would greatly appreciate your consideration in helping sponsor National Maritime Day 2011 at the Commander in Chief, Admiral, Commodore, Captain, or Mate level. Your company will be recognized during the luncheon, in programs, and on signage during the event as well as on the film that will hopefully be shown in the future at other venues and on YouTube.
